The opportunity…

This is a highly successful financial services organisation with multiple strong brands in the UK market. This is an exciting time for the business as they are expanding their SRE capabilities. Currently they have an opportunity for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their team in Bristol.

This position will join a dynamic and supportive environment with lots of exciting projects to get stuck into. Currently the team is working remotely, but when it is safe to do so will be transitioning back into their modern city centre offices

Your responsibilities will include…

  • You will work as part of a team dedicated to the build of platforms / services for use across the wider business
  • A significant focus of the position will be ensuring health and performance of key software services
  • Implementing new business functionality, automating routine tasks and working to improve systems reliability
  • Working across core infrastructure components i.e. middleware, databases
  • Managing services across on-premise and cloud platforms - their main cloud platform is AWS
  • Providing support for other brands across the business

What you'll bring to the role…

  • Ability to think strategically about how to achieve long-term team / business goals
  • Experience working in team environments and providing guidance and support to others in the team
  • Excellent experience supporting services, ensuring they are running reliably, and automating tasks to improve efficiency
  • Strong understanding of how applications work and the underlying services they use
  • Experience working in DevOps environments and following CI / CD
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience with different cloud services, ideally with AWS services such as CloudWatch
  • SQL skills from working with either SQL Server or Oracle databases
